English & Mandarin Welcome
Good morning. My name is Olivia Markham and I am honored to welcome the students and teachers from Qingdao, China to our town and Darien High School. We are all so excited that you’re here, and it is a privilege to be able to host you in our community and our homes. There is so much we are looking forward to showing you and teaching you about our culture. In the same respect, we cannot wait to learn about your traditions and way of life from you. In today’s rapidly growing and changing world, it is a great advantage to be able to connect with another nation on the other side of the planet. It is also important to expand our point of view and forge friendships outside of our familiar circles. We have planned many interesting and diverse adventures for you, and it’s going to be so much fun getting to know each other. We welcome you enthusiastically, and we’d like to thank you for making this journey to visit with us!
